We are looking into the lives of four jazz musicians from Greece and the UK and how the inherent universality in the experience of being a musician blends with the unique traits of one’s heritage.
We explore how early life experiences shaped their musical identity and how society nurtured it (or not…) further. Uncomfortable truths and realities, stereotypes, sexism and the colonization of music are discussed. By sharing their experiences, we/they hope to learn from each other.
